  1. To me, the American Dream is the idea that through hard work, courage and determination, anyone can achieve prosperity. Some might argue that it takes a decent amount of intellect and knowledge to succeed in this country, but there are many people who have become successful through hard work and perseverance. A successful example of someone who pursued this American Dream with determination is Tiger Woods. He was not born with the talent of a world class golfer, but through massive amounts of hard work, practice and dedication, Tiger Woods earned his spot as one of the best and richest professional athletes on the globe.

  2. Not a bad thought D.Harrington. Have you ever thought about the basketball experience of it?

  3. I believe the American dream is what you make it, the American dream can range from a wide varieties of different situations. You also can have your own opinion on the American dream like for example the American dream for some could be being extremely rich, or it could be having a family made up of two kids two parents with good jobs an a dog living in the suburbs with the picket white fence. It even could be for some just coming t America an just being free. But to me the American dream is stay in school an get the best education I can get go to an having a job that I want an enjoy. But also make good money. That is the American dream to me.

  4. Excellent example, Tiger Woods. He is an example of the American dream especially since he took advantage of what was made available to him. And for so many, not near as much is available to them, but they can make the best out of!

  6. The american dream is simply living they way America is supposed to offer you. I would define the american dream as a great career, beautiful family, & spend every moment for you to count. One person i see who has the american dream would be Barack Obama

  7. The american dream is being able to accomplish your goals in life. Martin Luther King Jr. has successfully accomplished wanting change for everyone to be equal. Basically, who ever can overcome your obstacles life throws at you ca be considered an "American Dream".

  9. @J.Walker i like how you put that. It's true everyone has different views on what and american means to them. but i like your goal(s) in life wish you the best of luck.

  10. @J.Campbell- I'm not sure what you mean by the "basketball experience of it?" If you are asking if I think someone could achieve the same success in basketball, then yes, I think that anyone can achieve in any field of interest with enough hard work. The most successful people aren't always the most gifted.

  11. @J.Taroc- Granted, he has displayed some unprofessional behavior in the past, but I'm not talking about Tiger Woods as a person. As an athlete, he worked incredibly hard to get where he is.

  12. @harrington. Not bad response, but your definition needs to be original too. Seems like it is found verbatim on the internet according to google "advanced" search.

  13. Dare I repeat the need to answer the ENTIRE question: "give an example and explain whom you believe best represents a success story of the "American Dream" and why? " You are now giving me the definition, the example, but not WHY he or she makes a perfect example of the "dream" coming true.

  15. @JTaroc. You are welcome to disagree with someone's example; you just have to explain why he(Tiger Woods) does fit with the "American Dream." Why don't you agree? I believe you actually have a case here, but need to explain yourself.

  16. Lots of them had the American dream to get a house with land and live of the fat of the land. Candy didn't make it because he lost his hand, Lennie Didn't make it because he was killed because of killing someone else. But we will never Know If George will make it and have Candy join along.......
